A lot of homes are running on electrical systems that were never designed for the way we live now. One TV, a few lamps, maybe a window AC unit - that's what a 100-amp service was built for. Add in a modern HVAC system, multiple smart appliances, and now an EV charger on top of that, and you've got a panel that's basically being asked to do too much.

That's exactly the situation we were dealing with here. The homeowner wanted to add an EV charger, but the existing 100-amp service simply couldn't handle it. So we started from scratch - new meter, new 200-amp panel, new service entrance. Everything done cleanly and up to current code.

The new Schneider Electric panel gives this home a serious amount of headroom. Plenty of open slots, proper breaker spacing, and a clean installation that runs from the weatherhead down to the panel in a straight, secure conduit run. No shortcuts. The work is organized, accessible, and built to last.

Going from 100 to 200 amps isn't just about adding an EV charger - it's about future-proofing the whole house. Whether that means adding a hot tub, a home workshop, solar down the road, or just not tripping breakers when the dryer and oven run at the same time, having double the capacity changes everything. It's one of the best investments a homeowner can make in their electrical system.

If your panel feels maxed out or you're planning any kind of upgrade that draws real power, a service upgrade is usually the right first step. We do these regularly and know how to plan them so the work goes smoothly and the end result is something you can actually build on.
